CALHOUN COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 20 (Infinite Headlines) — Calhoun County authorities said six people were arrested after a June 6 brawl broke out at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River, and investigators say more arrests are expected.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office identified the arrested people as Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell and Taylor Knudson. The office said they face various assault and breach-of-peace charges.

Sheriff Thomas Summers said the fight was tied to the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run and that alcohol was a factor. Deputies also found numerous cases of underage drinking, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said more than 20 people were involved in the disturbance and at least three people were injured. Summers said the injuries ranged from swollen eyes to head injuries.

Video released by the sheriff’s office showed multiple fights and people crowding around the scene in shallow water.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active as detectives review video and public submissions. Authorities have not publicly said what sparked the violence.
