NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling electric toaster ovens sold online through Amazon, Costco and other platforms after U.S. regulators said a cord insulation problem could create shock and fire hazards, prompting refunds for thousands of buyers.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 units sold in the United States and Canada. The agency estimated about 11,480 units were sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada, with sales running from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170 each.
The CPSC said the stainless-steel ovens have Panasonic branding on the front and a temperature knob on the bottom. Panasonic Corporation of North America is the importer, and Panasonic Manufacturing (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. made the product in China.
The recall notice said Panasonic had received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.
In a separate letter to Costco members, Panasonic said Costco records showed some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company said customers can return the oven to Panasonic for a refund or take it to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund, and it urged consumers to stop using the product immediately.
