FLINT, Mich., June 28 (Our Michigan Times) — Genesee County prosecutors have charged Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien with second-degree murder, torture and child abuse in the death of their 7-year-old son, Casper O’Brien, court records show.

The case stems from Casper’s death on Nov. 4, 2025, after a 911 call reported that he was not breathing at the family’s Flint Township home, according to law enforcement accounts cited in the records.

Court documents say Casper weighed 255 pounds at the time of his death. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in comments quoted in court-related reporting that the parents neglected the child to the point that he became obese.

Online court records cited by CBS News list Damien O’Brien as 40 and Jessica O’Brien as 41. Those records also show both are expected to appear at a probable cause conference.
