DETROIT, June 22 (Our Michigan Times) — Chevrolet unveiled the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 on June 16, saying the full-size pickup will add new 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines and a more digital cabin when it reaches dealers later this year.

The automaker described the truck as the “most powerful Silverado ever” and said it will continue to offer four powertrain choices: the new 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s, the enhanced 2.7-liter TurboMax and the class-exclusive Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel.

Chevrolet said the 2027 Silverado 1500 now offers the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class. The company did not release horsepower, torque or fuel-economy figures in the announcement.

The interior gets a major tech update. Chevrolet said every 2027 Silverado 1500 will come with a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information center as standard equipment.

ZR2 and High Country trims will add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, along with a head-up display and rear camera mirror, Chevrolet said.

The lineup will include seven models: ZR2, High Country, Trail Boss, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Custom and WT, according to Chevrolet’s product page.

Chevrolet said pricing will be announced later this year. The company also said the truck is expected to go on sale later this year, but it did not provide a firm order date or delivery schedule.

The Silverado is one of Chevrolet’s most important trucks in the U.S. market, where full-size pickups compete on towing, powertrain choice and in-cab technology as much as on size and capability.
