WASHINGTON, July 16 (DC Times Online) — Consumers still do not have a public Taco Bell recall to guide their next meal as Michigan health officials say lettuce or salad greens are the current focus in a cyclosporiasis outbreak, while federal and state investigators review whether the chain played any role.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said in a press release that current results point to lettuce or salad greens as a possible source, but other food items cannot be ruled out. The department said no specific produce, grower, supplier or brand has been identified.

Taco Bell said public health officials have not confirmed a link to Taco Bell or to any specific ingredient, supplier, restaurant or retailer. The company said it had voluntarily and temporarily removed limited ingredients at select restaurants as a precaution while it continued to monitor the situation.

People familiar with the investigation said federal and state health officials are reviewing whether Taco Bell restaurants were involved. The Food and Drug Administration’s public notices page did not show a Taco Bell recall, and no specific product or supplier has been named.
